12V LEDs (WS2815)

For larger installations, we often use the WS2815 LED strip which is very similar to the WS2812B - as it uses the same data protocol/signal, but instead of 5V it is 12V.

For longer runs where the LED strips are:

  • Further away from MAINFRAME
  • Themselves are very long (5m+)
  • Running at high brightness and/or pure white

Sometimes 5V strips are unreliable, either they start getting glitchy, LEDs tend towards yellow/red at the end of the strip or just outright stop working.

This is where 12V strips effectively solve all these problems.

MAINFRAME-B is compatible with 12V strips with a few changes to the cabling, power and by setting the output mode from RGB to GRB. We will be writing out a detailed guide on how to do this soon, but in the meantime if you have questions you can message us directly.
