Ableton Setup
Basic MIDI Routing from Ableton
- Connect MAINFRAME-B via USB (or via 5-pin MIDI-USB interface on B+). MAINFRAME-B should show up as a device within your computer’s settings.
- In Ableton Live Preferences → Link/Tempo/MIDI, enable the MAINFRAME-B port for Track output.
- Now either:
- Create a MIDI track and set its MIDI To to MAINFRAME-B.
- Drag an “external instrument” from the instrument panel on a MIDI track.
- Set the track MIDI channel to the zone you want to control. By default, MAINFRAME-B ships with:
- Channel 1 -> Zone 1
- Channel 2 -> Zone 2
- Channel 3 -> Zone 3
- Send MIDI notes and CC envelopes to test parameters.
Common Checks
- If you see no lights, try Animation Mode #1 (Full strip) to force LED output.
- Make sure Global Config brightness and LED count are not zero.
- Ensure the zone LED blinks on note-on.
For hardware connections, see Connect Hardware.
